Good Luck – Playing Soccer on the legendary "Kampfbahn" in Schalke

As part of the qualification matches for the Europa Championship, we at Sportkultour were tasked with the realisation of a customer's event for the match between Germany and Austria in Gelsenkirchen. The goal was bridging the gap for the international match in the VELTINS arena by giving guests an understanding of the rich history of Schalke 04.

The Good Luck-Kampfbahn that is situated on the old pit Consolidation was the home ground of Schalke 04 until the year of 1973. Moreover, it was the place were the club celebrated its biggest achievements, and were the myth of the "Schalker Kreisel" of Kuzorra, Libuda and Szepan originated from. The 40 guests that visited this venerable locus had a bodacious adventure.

On a day with wonderful late summer weather, the guests and the Ruhr area Legends of Schalke 04 donned their sports clothing and shoes and faced off against each other. The "Knappen's" stadium announcer, Dirk Oberschulte, not only commented on the friendly match, but also told one or the other anecdote. Furthermore, while enjoying beer and the obligatory "Stadionwurst", the former professionals gave away private details from in and out of the locker room. This was followed by the actual highlight of the day: A visit to the VIP-Area of the VELTINS arena, where the guest got to enjoy the qualification match, Germany vs. Austria, which ended in a victory of 6:2 for the German team!
